CHEMTREC HELP Award to Fund Hazmat Training and Equipment for Volunteer Fire Departments
The application period is closed. Grant recipients will be announced by December 1st.

CHEMTREC, the world’s leading source of 24/7 call center support and information viber database during hazardous materials incidents, has partnered with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) to offer the CHEMTREC HELP (Hazmat Emergency Local Preparedness) Award. Through this program, two volunteer fire departments will be awarded $7,500 to help improve their response capabilities and increase local preparedness to respond to and prepare for hazardous materials incidents.

To be eligible to apply for a CHEMTREC Assistance Award, departments must meet the following criteria:

The Department must serve a population of 25,000 or less.
The Department must be located in the United States and legally organized under state law.
The Department or individual applying on behalf of the Department must be a member of the NVFC. Learn about member benefits and get involved at
The Department must demonstrate a need to receive the $7,500 award and must explain in the application essay how they would use the award.
Departments receiving the award must use the money to increase their departments' disaster response capabilities and not for any other purpose.
