According to AppAnnie, Clubhouse grew from 3.5 million downloads worldwide to 8.1 million between February 1 and February 16, 2021. This rapid growth can be attributed to the attention of several media personalities, such as Elon Musk, Kanye West, and Mark Zuckerberg, on the platform.

Clubhouse has about 2 million weekly active users

Part of Clubhouse’s appeal and popularity , at least for now, is its exclusivity. Just look at OnlyFans: people like being part of something exclusive. According to CEO Paul Davison, Clubhouse currently has around 2 million weekly active users. Davison himself has been known to drop into rooms to get feedback on the app and its features.

Clubhouse is valued at $1 billion (as of January 2021)

As of January 2021, following a Series B round led by Andreessen Horowitz, Clubhouse is valued at $1 billion, 10x its valuation just eight months ago (The Information). According to Clubhouse’s own blog, they currently have over 180 investors in the app.

App Launches Creator Grant Program, Begins Testing Creator Payments

Using some of the recent funding, Clubhouse will test paying creators on the platform directly through features like tipping, tickets, or subscriptions, the app said in a blog post. They will also use some of their new funding round to fund their Creator Grant program to support new Clubhouse creators.

Users spend a lot of time in the app

Despite the app having only a few hundred thousand users, users lucky enough to get an invite spend dozens of hours on the app each week. One woman reported spending over 40 hours a week on Clubhouse. Other users have tweeted about their own usage, showing usage between 11–22 hours per week.

Clubhouse's first influencer was Sheel Mokhnot

Sheel Mohnot is the founder of Better Tomorrow Ventures and the first influencer on Clubhouse. He is a regular on Back of the Bus. Mohnot was also a contestant on Zoom Bachelorette, an online dating event where fans hosted a live discussion on Clubhouse. Mohnot was linked to record executive Scooter Braun on Clubhouse and has since been featured in music videos by Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.
