After its launch on July 5, 2023, Threads reached 100 million users in record time. Partly thanks to X-users (then still Twitter) who were looking for an alternative due to the chaotic takeover of Elon Musk . Around the last American elections, Threads welcomed a lot of X-users to the platform again.
This enormous growth seems to be a good reason for the platform to really step up the pace of rolling out new features and improvements to make Threads more attractive and retain users. And that is really necessary, because there are also a lot of problems. For example, there is criticism about the amount of ' engagement bait ', misinformation, moderation problems and the algorithm. I will highlight a number of interesting developments.
1. Threads is slowly breaking away from Instagram
Threads is "growing up," according to Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri . After creating a Threads account (by logging in with your Instagram profile), you could follow anyone you follow on Instagram on Threads with a single sms gateway hungary click. In some countries, they've now stopped that option and users have become more active. According to Mosseri, it indicates that people on another platform also want to follow other accounts. Sound familiar?
2. Save drafts in the app
Good news for those who use Threads mainly on mobile. You can now save up to 100 draft messages via the mobile app. Quite practical for a social media app, if you have a lot of inspiration. On desktops, this has been possible for a while. Scheduling posts via the app would also be handy, but fortunately this is possible via external social media management tools.
How to save a draft message? Type your message and click 'cancel'. You will then be given the option to save the message as a draft. You can find drafts when creating a new message via the icon of a text in the top right.
