Goals, goals, goals, goals… every business and organization, big or small, is familiar with these words. It is imperative that every organization sets goals not only at the organizational level, but also for its employees in order to grow and succeed.

Consider this scenario. You run a large supermarket chain with several product lines. Your goal is to “Increase clothing revenue by X by aggressively promoting and selling summer clothing and accessories.” In this case, you would:

Identify strategies to achieve this goal
Identify your target customer base
Define your marketing approach,
Decide on discounts or promotions.
Selecting specific products to showcase
Estimate the number of sales personnel required, etc.
You will also need to periodically review and adjust to ensure you are on track. This process can seem complex and overwhelming, especially if your business covers a wide range of product lines or has a large workforce, etc. Setting clear goals for each department and team can seem challenging even for small businesses when frequent goal reassessments are expected.

For everyone who reports to you or is below you in the hierarchy.

Adding goals is easy

You can add a goal and its details from a single window. You will be able to select the module, the time duration, the value to be assigned to the goal, the person to whom it will be assigned, etc.

For example, you want a specific salesperson to review and close X number of deals. In this case, you can select the Deals module, assign a goal to the relevant salesperson, select the number of deals he/she should close, the start date, the period, etc. You can also set the target duration as quarterly or monthly and add many deals and such details.

Perform multiple actions on a target

Once a goal is set, a goal record is created. This record will be visible in the goals list view. The goals list view contains detailed information about all goals set for individuals and teams (reporting to you). You can find metrics for goals set, goals achieved, and the gap between goals set and goals achieved.

In addition to setting goals, you can also perform the following actions on a target post:
Edit - Allows you to edit the target entry.
Duplicate - Allows you to duplicate the target entry.
Delete – allows you to delete the target entry.
Set as Default - If you enable Set as Default, your target entry will appear in the Target List add-on by default.
Export – Allows you to export the goal details to an Excel sheet using this icon.
Filters - Allows you to view target records monthly, quarterly, monthly and quarterly within a specified time period.
Revision of targets and quotas

Simply setting goals won't help. You also need to review and revisit them periodically to make sure you're staying on track.

Forbes contributor Chuck Cohn says, “Setting specific goals, documenting them, and reviewing them periodically can increase your chances of success by up to 95% . ” #3


Regularly reviewing your goals, especially for larger teams, will help you learn about the progress they are making. You will be able to check whether the strategy you are using is correct. These reviews will tell you whether you need to revisit your goals and make adjustments or take a different course of action.
