Amazon delivery people and the packages (more or less bulky) they carry have become an unavoidable part of the landscape in most cities , whose infrastructures are made available to the e-commerce giant to make its deliveries.

However, some cities have had enough of iran telephone number data willingly handing over their infrastructure to Amazon without charging a cent and are considering demanding a specific tax from the company led by Andy Jassy.

The German Association of Cities and Municipalities (DStGB) is calling for the introduction of a special tax on parcels distributed by large e-commerce platforms . The organisation wants to raise money to finance the renovation of city centres, Spiegel reports .

DStGB wants Amazon and Co. to contribute their taxes to the renovation of city centres
«The measures required to renovate city centres will require additional financial resources. We are therefore calling for a parcel tax on large online retailers so that they can participate in the financing of our infrastructure », explains Gerd Landsberg, head of DStGB.

E-commerce companies such as Amazon use the infrastructure of the cities in which they operate for their deliveries, but do not, however, pay any associated taxes , complains Landsberg.

If the tax requested by DStGB is finally approved, up to 1.5 billion euros could be raised in taxes.
