2022 Christmas sales exceeded one billion euros

Post by Rockey39# »

Salesforce, a leading multinational technology company in Customer Relationship Management (CRM), has released data on Christmas sales for 2022, analyzing information from more than a billion consumers around the world, including Portugal.

Trade registers the milestone of 1.14 trillion dollars (corresponding to approximately 1.07 trillion euros) at a global level!

This trend has been increasingly accentuated in societies that increasingly seek wealth and profit, as demonstrated for example by the high number of Google searches for topics such as “make money on the Internet”, “get rich quick”, “make money on tiktok” and “ best bitcoin casinos in Portugal ”.

The data now made public reveals:

Returns surge at the end of the season: Back in December, Salesforce predicted that more than 1.4 billion orders purchased this holiday season would be returned. Current data shows that number has reached 1.39 billion, 13% of total holiday orders and a 63% increase in returns over last year. In the six days following Christmas, Salesforce reported 16% returns, a 5% increase over last year.

Retail continued to offer strong discounts in the run-up to Christmas: stores and brands maintained competitive discounts, with the average discount rate standing at 21%, compared to 19% last year. Skincare and makeup and beauty products were the categories with the highest discounts, with the rate set at 29%.
Buy online, pick up in store (BOPIS) drives sales growth: Nearly a azerbaijan telemarketing fifth of online orders placed globally during the holiday season were BOPIS-enabled, with the peak growth of 35% coming from Christmas Eve orders. As the guaranteed delivery window began to close, U.S. businesses that offered BOPIS saw their revenue grow 7x faster than those without BOPIS checkout.

Social media referrals hit record highs. Consumers like to find their products in any type of store, but social media has proven to be the preferred channel in 2022. Social media referrals peaked this Christmas season, accounting for 12% of mobile traffic (+23% compared to last year). Belgium, Italy and the USA were the countries where consumers made the most purchases via social media.
“Retailers closed out the 2022 holiday season with stronger-than-expected sales growth , ” said Rob Garf, vice president and general manager of retail at Salesforce. “Looking ahead, consumers remain cautious amid economic uncertainty. In 2023, retailers must reduce the burden of customer-centricity through data-driven personalization and more efficient operations across fulfillment, service and returns.”
